LANE AND JESS (8 MOS PREGNANT WITH JOSHUA) AT ZEKE AND MIRANDA’S WEDDING 2005Â
Last week at my OB appointment, Dr. Delaney gave me a bit of a hard time about my weight. I’m underweight to start, and haven’t put on any weight since the start of the pregnancy, which after 4 months I guess is beginning to become a problem. You wouldn’t think I would have trouble gaining pregnancy weight considering my track record with Joshua (isn’t that a pretty picture - yikes!). Nevertheless, here I am… force-feeding myself as many calories as I can stomach… and then some.  If only I could borrow some of the pounds from last time around!

Joshua had his second birthday last week, and it was so much fun. His word of the day was “whoah”. In the beginning of the day, he got his first present - a series of soft plastic safari animals. “Whoah!” They traveled with him upstairs, downstairs, through lunch, even through his nap. At each new destination, he would realign them in a neat row, then proceed with his routine of pointing to each animal and calling them by name and imitating the sound the animal makes. “Lion. Rooaaar!”
The first time all day that he relinquished his grip on his safari pals was when we lured him to the garage to introduce him to his new power wheels truck. Running across the garage floor yelling “truck!”, he threw down his animals in his haste to explore this Joshua-sized man-truck. “Whoah!” He tooled around the driveway for at least an hour, soaking up the last rays of sun as we soaked in his delighted smiles.
Then the real fun began. We celebrated all evening with Mimzi, Grandfather, Aunt Dacyl + Lou, Uncle Zeke + Aunt Miranda, and Uncle Jon (affectionally called “Non”, which he loves because he thinks it sounds very Star Trek-y). Joshua loved being serenaded with “Happy Birthday”, blowing out his birthday candles, digging into chocolate cake and dozens of presents… it was a very “whoah” experience!
